The Perfect Chili Partner: Quick & Easy Cornbread
Because chili and cornbread belong together. This recipe is simple, golden, and ready in about 25 minutes.
Ingredients
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup sugar (optional)
1 tbsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup milk (or buttermilk)
¼ cup melted butter
1 egg
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease an 8x8 pan or cast iron skillet.
In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients.
In another bowl, whisk together wet ingredients until smooth.
Combine just until mixed (don’t over-stir).
Bake 20–25 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
Serve warm with butter or honey.
